For the past two centuries immigration has become bigger deal day after day in the United States. Things, however, need to change how immigration and deportation works. Starting off, not all illegal immigrants who come into the United States are bad. Mainly speaking of those who are not bad could have families they need to take care of which leads them to come to the country for work and a better life than what they had before in their country of origin. Which leads to the parents of those illegal families. Do they work? Are they stealing U.S citizens’ chances of acquiring a job? No, if anything, they\’re helping by some working for less pay and possibly being better at getting the job done. Amnesty should be allowed, as the government will make major benefits and profits from it. Immigration currently is a positive thing and illegal immigrants can take the jobs of those who don\’t want to work in certain workplaces as labor, and deportation of illegal families being stopped so, therefore, amnesty takes place for those families on not being separated from one another and becoming U.S residents. The focus should be on keeping criminals from coming here illegally and not families. The deportation of illegal families should be dropped and be focused on those who affect the United States negatively rather than those who don\’t, which can be done by passing the laws granting amnesty to those already here.
Immigration has to do with a lot of things but one main thing it leads to is the deportation and separation of families which have done nothing wrong, which is a terrible thing to do and needs to be changed. Along with reasons that all illegal immigrants are so-called bad and thought of as negative people, many of them work from early morning to late noon every day to support those they call family. Deporting and separating families is the wrong thing to do. The president of the United States, Barack Obama agrees, when he said, “Business owners who see the competition exploit of undocumented immigrants by paying them far less […] and undocumented immigrants who desperately want to embrace those responsibilities see little option but to remain in the shadows, or risk their families being torn apart” (Obama). Telling how illegal families don\’t just come to the U.S to not improve the lives of their loved ones. But even risk being torn from their own families while working their way up in life, even if it\’s little money that they\’re making to support their family. Also telling how separating illegal families shouldn\’t be an option and isn\’t American like.
While saying so Obama says in his address to the nation on immigration “It’s also not who we are as Americans. After all, most of these immigrants have been here a long time. […] They support their families. They worship at our churches. Many of their kids are American-born or spent most of their lives here, and their hopes, dreams, and patriotism are just like ours” (Obama). Proving another point on why it\’s so hard for illegal families to be deported and why they shouldn\’t be. Especially knowing that their kids are official U.S citizens and are already living the American way. Therefore, deporting families isn\’t the right thing to do because it just ends in them being split apart which leads to how deportation should be viewed and taken into effect “Felons, not families.” (Obama). Putting the parent or parents of those families in a position where they don\’t have to worry about deportation and living a normal life by going to out with their family, and going to work with a free mind.
Whilst saying so many believe that immigrants are going to take the jobs of the U.S citizens who were already here before them. But that\’s not the case at all. “As an illegal immigrant can work at jobs the average American will not be willing to take. This way, goods, and services will be delivered on time” (Garage Blog). Leading to the fact that immigrants do not typically take Americans jobs. But they get whatever they can get, in other words, the leftover jobs no one else wants. “For the most part, the research generally shown indicates that a few years after arrival, immigrants’ wages are very similar to those of natives in the same occupation and the same demographic characteristics” (Camarota).
Clearly stating how illegal immigrants work for a lot lower wages than what they would be making if they were United States citizens. Which benefits the United States as they don\’t pay them as much but still get the job done. While many still say that immigrants are still taking jobs Obama made a remark on this statement “I know some worry immigration will change the very fabric of who we are, or take our jobs, […] our history and the facts show that immigrants are a net plus for our economy and our society. And I believe it’s important that all of us have this debate without impugning each other’s character” (Obama). Pointing out that no, immigrants are not taking peoples jobs just like that but the jobs that they do acquire, help the country grow as a whole.
Everything would be much easier if illegal immigrants who are noticed as helping and doing good for the economy and the United States as a whole should be granted legal papers and considered U.S Americans. Stepping into why amnesty should be allowed to all immigrants without criminal records or have been in the country for five or more years. Having amnesty in the United States can benefit the country and immigrants by a ton of diverse ways as they’ll be able to stay in the country temporarily without having to go day after day fearing being deported. Which if an immigrant met the requirements to amnesty he or she would no longer be considered an immigrant of such as. Which leads to what the United States gains and since nothing\’s free in the world those who are illegal immigrants wanting amnesty are willing to have to pay taxes which equals more money for the government, just for letting an illegal alien stay in the country.
Not only would the government earn more tax money but “Many illegal aliens are paid under the table because of trouble with the law. By letting amnesty be legal for all illegal immigrants, they could be paid legally and pay taxes, contributing to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security” (Noble). So many things can be gained from amnesty being approved and one main thing would be “diversity which brings people with many diverse backgrounds and beliefs. These nurtured experiences contribute to an individual’s thoughts and ideas, which ultimately strengthen and innovates debate” (Noble). Which is needed everywhere because without diversity there\’s no different opinions on things, and if amnesty were to follow through it could help with different ideas and laws that could be implemented or inventions being made. Since no one thinks the exactly alike change would be good. Another thing would be that amnesty could help find out which immigrants have criminal background checks and if they should even be allowed in the country in the first place.
A common argument for this position would be. What about the illegal criminals who come into the country and are no good for it? Well, the illegal criminals in the United States are making it so much harder for illegal families to have a better life because the first thing U.S citizens think about when they hear the word “immigrants, or illegal aliens” is often not a good thought. As a report on December 14th, 2014 stated that “about 102,000 immigrants deported from the interior of the U.S., around 87,000 of them had criminal records” (Dinan). Which is why a lot of illegal families are afraid of being deported because of the reputation the illegal criminals stand out and set for them. But thanks to Obama, he got the attention from all the families who were doing no harm to the country but “has pushed for those numbers, saying he felt he was deporting too many illegal immigrants with families here, or ties to their community when it wasn\’t their fault. While pushing for more deportations, he had asked that his agents focus those efforts on criminals and on illegal immigrants” (Dinan). By doing this it really helped those with families and really put the attention on the ones who were in the wrong and do not belong in the country nor should be allowed in it for their actions of crimes and violence. Which are known as the illegal criminals?
In the final analysis, immigrants do not take Americans jobs but they take the ones that no one else would want to do or try to do so. As to the parents and children of those families’ rights of being deported should not take place anymore. Especially since it isn\’t the American way to do such a thing. “Are we a nation that accepts the cruelty of ripping children from their parents’ arms? Or are we a nation that values families, and works together to keep them together?” (Obama). As said extraordinarily by the president himself. Putting families before the law. Then comes amnesty and with amnesty being approved those who are not only families but immigrants, in general, could benefit extremely from being allowed in the United States without living with fear day by day. Put yourself in an immigrant\’s shoes just trying to search for better life and being judged by people all around the country saying, “you’re not welcomed here” — because at the end of the day everyone\’s human.
